Is MOPS for you?

Are you a mom who…
Has at least one child age newborn through pre-K?
 Wants to make new friends?
Wants to share the joys and challenges of motherhood with other moms in the community?
Is looking for opportunities for personal growth?
Then YES, MOPS is for you!
MOPS stands for “Mothers of Preschoolers” - but don’t let that confuse you. MOPS is about meeting the needs of every mom of a child from conception through pre-K with local groups of moms just like you. Whether urban, suburban, rural, stay-at-home, working, teen, adoptive, special needs, singles or married, MOPS is for you!
Being moms is what brings us together and allows us to build a community, and a MOPS group allows you to meet and build friendships with moms in your local community. The early years of being a mom are just as foundational to you as they are to your baby, and those years are filled with unique needs that other moms instinctively understand.

MOPS at Fair View UMC
Regular MOPS meetings at Fair View are a combination of teaching sessions, small group discussions, fellowship time, and creative activities. The group regularly hosts speakers on topics relevant to mothers of preschoolers. Meeting topics include subjects like parenting, marriage, personal development, relationships, homemaking, family life, and more.
Fair View UMC MOPS participates in other planned events including mother’s nights out, twice monthly playgroups, date nights and family gatherings. The group is also involved in outreach within the local community.
What are MOPPETS?
While moms are participating in group meetings, their preschool age children are being lovingly cared for in our MOPPETS program. Our youngest MOPPETS enjoy supervised play time while our older MOPPETS have the opportunity to enjoy crafts, stories and other planned activities.
All MOPPETS workers and volunteers have been background checked and have received Safe Sanctuaries training, per Fair View UMC policies.

Does this sound fun? Want to find out more? Visit our next meeting and find out about the fellowship, fun, support and encouragement that can be found in a MOPS group near you.

A Beautiful Mess – Embrace Your Story

Stacks Image 515

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLV)

Moms live in messes. The toys, crumbs, and spit-up are their natural surroundings. Moms often feel like a mess. They are exhausted, under-showered, and hormonal. Their past and present circumstances and decisions can leave them feeling inadequate for God’s love and purposes.  A Beautiful Mess — reminds moms that beauty can come out of their difficult spots. The grime of mothering young children brings the beauty of motherhood. The bruises of life can bring God’s redemption. Embrace Your Story — reminds moms that their past, present and future can be used for good. God knows where each of us has been, where we are today and has set in motion where we are headed.
