Call to Action:

How might God want to use these next 40 days of Lent to help you sort out the way you will follow Jesus?

In your journal, wrestle with the statement, “There is more to life than serving ourselves or satisfying our human hungers and desires. In fact, there are hungers in the human soul that can be satisfied by nothing less than Jesus.”

Have you ever been tempted to trust the love of power rather than the power of love? If so, how?

What can you be doing during this Lenten season to make sure the methods you are using are consistent with the ends you seek?

Prayer:

Gracious God, be in the decisions we must make today, open our ears to your guidance and steer our footsteps through temptation. We know the days ahead may be a struggle. The act of rising, journeying, conversations with those we work with, those we live with, people we meet. Be our confidence, our assurance, our words that we speak. Be our freedom, our guidance, as we walk through these days. Keep our head above water, our eyes fixed on you. This we pray, in Jesus’ name … Amen.
