God Thought 2/15/23

'Have nothing to do with profane myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself in godliness, for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. '
1 Timothy 4:7-8
The alarm went off before the sun rose.  I was trying to be good and get up and workout my physical body, but I just didn't want to get up.  The bed was warm and inviting.  It was begging me to stay for just 30 more minutes.  I thought long and hard about hitting that snooze button but another voice told me to "Get Up! You need to get going!"

I am sure I'm not the only one that has felt that way.  That you weren't ready for the day to begin and to get to task that need to be done.  But God knows we can't afford to just lie there in bed, especially when it comes to our Spiritual Fitness.  So when we hesitate, we have the Holy Spirit urging us onward back into the right frame of mind.

The Holy Spirit reminding us to grab our lifeline, the Word, and read God's love letters to us. These are God's words of encouragement and life for us.

The Spirit drives us to reach out to those that can best help us grow.  That will help us know that we are not alone in the fight to become Godly as He is Godly.

The Holy Spirit draws us to spend time with God in prayer, working out our faith as it most often come against opposition in the situations and reality of this world.

As we get more and more strength in our daily workout with God, the Holy Spirit will then turn you to serving others and becoming the training partners for fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

If you are still wondering how to start up a good spiritual fitness plan, I recommend reading the book of James.  Its really a manual for Godly living.  Make reading a chapter, or part of a chapter one of you goals.  Then reflect on these verses and see how you can implement a new exercise into your daily walk.  You will be amazed what it will do.

Prayer of the Day:
Lord, Thank you for the Holy Spirit, who keep at me when I would like to pull the covers back over my head and hit the snooze button.  Guide me to the Godly life you have in store for me.
Amen.
